Introduction
This
directory includes nearly 50 organisations that fund youth development work in
Egypt. A similar directory has been developed for Palestine. Work on both
directories has been done in parallel. The objective of these two directories is
to facilitate the search for funding for those who work on youth development in
Egypt and Palestine.
The
directory consists of three sections. The first section lists all the
organisations described in detail in the directory. The second part is the
directory itself. Each organisation involved in funding youth development in
Egypt is listed on a separate page. Organisations are listed alphabetically. The
last part of the directory is a list of all organisations contacted for the
directory with a brief note on their responses.
The
table of information for each organisation listed in the directory includes the
contact details (address, telephone, fax, email and website), contact person and
position, geographical areas of work of the organisation in MENA, the age of the
youth target group, the field of work of the organisation and the type of
activities they do. Information about the type and size of grant is also
mentioned.
While
we have tried to collect as much information as possible, this directory should
not be considered a comprehensive list. The directory was developed by
contacting a long list of funding agencies and NGOs active in Egypt. Most
organisations were contacted through email with follow-up contacts made by email
and phone. While most organisations provided helpful responses, we were not able
to secure replies from a number of organisations. The information in the
directory is based solely on the information provided by responding
organisations and data collected from the internet. Where information is missing
in the different entries, it has not been provided/available. Given the large
amount of data collected, we hope you will forgive us for any errors made in the
entries. We welcome corrections if you find any major errors. Please bear in
mind that the information for this directory was mostly collected in the first
half of 2005 and so may need updating. For corrections or updates, please email
Ahmad Abu Shakra

We
would like to thank all the organisations that cooperated in providing the
information included in this directory and we hope that youth organisations,
youth workers and youth advocates will find it a useful resource.
